In recent months, the shipping industry has faced significant challenges due to geopolitical tensions, port congestion and evolving trade patterns. As a result, an increasing number of vessels is being rerouted from the Suez Canal to the Cape of Good Hope, adding substantial transit time. This shift has created a growing demand for ship supply services, particularly at the Port of Las Palmas, which has emerged as a vital logistical hub. Wrist Las Palmas has demonstrated strong adaptability and commitment to maintaining high service standards amidst these changing conditions.
Enhancing Operations to Address Industry Changes
Miguel Martín Perez, Branch Manager in Wrist Las Palmas, confirms the heightened demand for essential supplies due to longer voyages and shifts in trade patterns. By enhancing the operational capacity, Wrist Las Palmas is well prepared to meet the evolving customer needs and ensure seamless delivery.
In response to the increasing demand for ship supply services, Wrist Las Palmas has taken proactive steps to ensure operational efficiency and maintain its high service standards. “Adjusting our supply chain has been essential, leading to inventory expansions to increase own stock levels and prevent potential shortages. That’s why we are currently in the process of extending our warehouse facilities from 2,000 to 3,000 square meters to accommodate this growth. Additionally, we have expanded our team, welcoming more warehouse and office colleagues, enabling us to better address logistical challenges,” says Miguel.
Boosting Customer Efficiency with Strong Supply Chain Collaboration
Customers highlight that stopping in Las Palmas has optimized their supply chain by enhancing fuel efficiency, reducing overall costs and mitigating potential risks. This efficiency is supported by strong, smooth coordination and communication with our supply chain providers, enabling a reliable flow of goods and maintaining consistent service for our customers.
“As the number of vessels stocking up in Las Palmas continues to rise, we inevitably encounter stronger competition. Our commitment to delivering reliable service and fostering innovation enables us to adapt to changing market conditions and consistently meet our customers’ needs,” says Jens Lundin, Country Manager in Wrist Spain.
