Wrist China Supplies Initial Stores to Svitzer’s Tugboat Newbuilds

Since October 2022, Wrist China has successfully supplied initial stores to Svitzer’s fleet of 13 tugboat newbuilds at the Zhuhai Hin Lee Shipyard.

This project involved supplying Svitzer’s entire fleet of new tugboats with the necessary initial stores, on-time in-full, to eliminate unnecessary delays and operational costs. The supply included a variety of essential items tailored to meet the specific requirements of the tugboats, to ensure that each vessel was ready for operational service in June 2024.

“Any delay in the delivery of initial stores to newbuilds can result in severe downtime, which negatively affects the shipowner’s operations and costs. With more than 300 new vessels deliveries experience in China, Korea and Japan, the Wrist China team knows to prioritize timely deliveries and cost efficiency to ensure vessels are operational and compliant right from the start," says Yingli Kier, General Manager, China.

Tugboats play a critical role in port operations, assisting with the docking and undocking of larger vessels. Downtime for these vessels can disrupt port activities, leading to financial losses and logistical challenges. Therefore, the final delivery of initial stores, in June, marked a successful completion of the project, after months of dedicated effort and seamless coordination between Wrist China, the shipyard and Svitzer.

Jens Rasmussen, Newbuilding Site Manager, Svitzer, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration: “It was a great pleasure to work with Wrist China on this project. My contact, Jack Yang, has done a fantastic job with all the deliveries. I would very much like to work with Wrist China again for future Newbuilding projects.”
