Wrist Marine Logistics Aalborg Delivers 4 Suction Sails to Odfjell

A case story on how Wrist Marine Logistics Aalborg (WML) successfully completed a special cargo project for Odfjell’s tanker vessel, Bow Olympus.

Time-sensitive execution

Odfjell requested a solution to transport four bound4blue suctions sails from Spain to Belgium with final destination in Antwerp, where Odfjell’s tanker, Bow Olympus called port. The suction sails each measured 22 meters and weighted 52 tons.

Bow Olympus had a busy operating schedule and therefore timely delivery was of the essence as the installation time frame was short. The assignment had to go smoothly to ensure optimal installation and minimize any additional delays.

Efficient transport enabled by close collaboration

WML Aalborg partnered with DHL Global Forwarding on a proposal that included a Ro-Ro solution and special trailers to freight four suction sails in batches from Santander, Spain to Zeebrugge, Belgium and further on to the vessel in Antwerp. Besides the suctions sails, cargo included 4 additional trucks with accessory equipment.

With many ends to meet and time being an evitable factor, careful planning and close collaboration between the involved parties were imperative for a successful transport and installation of the suction sails onboard the vessel. WML Aalborg was deeply involved in the process, fostering a very open dialog and strong collaboration with Odfjell  and DHL.

The cargo project was completed early March 2025 with great success thanks to an efficient transport solution, ensuring delivery on-time and in-full.
