Novel Coronavirus update #1

UPDATE

3 February 2020

As you are probably aware, there is a growing threat from a coronavirus which was first discovered in Wuhan, China and is now spreading to other cities in China and abroad.

According to The World Health Organization (WHO) coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.

The WHO has been working since the outbreak of the virus to determine the origin of the virus in order to be able to give the widest and most accurate control directives on how to minimise and control its spread.

At present, the focus has been on closures, quarantines and postponement of public events with the intention of minimising the risk of the spread of the virus through human to human contact.

The Wrist management team are closely monitoring the situation as part of our strong commitment to ensure the safety of our employees whilst working towards mitigating the possible impact on our customers.

Our staff are instructed to follow the recommendations issued from WHO to reduce exposure to and transmission of a range of illnesses. In accordance with the instructions from the Chinese government, Wrist colleagues will not return to the office until Monday 10 February, at the earliest, depending on how the situation develops. Additionally, our staff have been instructed to handle Chinese origin goods with caution and treat supplies in goods received carefully

Our customers and suppliers are advised to contact their Wrist representative directly with any questions they have in relation to this subject.
