Regional Procurement Manager - Long Beach

Wrist Ship Supply, a world leader in the field of procuring and delivering supply to the maritime industry, is looking for an experienced Regional Procurement Manager to drive the procurement activities for the North American branch operation. The job is domiciled in Long Beach, CA.

The success of the Ship Supply business is to translate the needs of the ships into products, and to deliver at the expected time, at the right price and quality. Key to that success is a well-run and competent procurement function, and our North American team works tirelessly in making sure our customers get just that – quality and price.


The successful candidate for this role will have specific experience in executing the global procurement strategy, and ensure a successful implementation in the multi-state branch network in North America.

A significant feature of success will include communicating the strategy, creating a common understanding for the specific targets and follow up on team goals and performance. In addition, the Regional Procurement Manager is responsible for providing the required training and development to enable the team to succeed.

Primary area of responsibility will be to ensure structured tendering of BTO (Buy To Order) items and local BTS (Buy To Stock) items and to ensure optimum inventory management/stock replenishment in the region.

The role is also responsible for alignment to other functional activities, to ensure effective execution of the regional business plan through cross-functional coordination.

Key responsibilities

  • Translate strategy into actionable targets and tasks, and coach and develop procurement competencies in team
  • Develop relationships with local and regional vendors (global vendors are managed by global procurement) and negotiate sustainable vendor contracts, in accordance with Company policy and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guidelines
  • Develop and lead structured tendering processes on BTO items and local sourced BTS items and continuously reduce vendor long tail by bundling volume
  • Develop and lead regional and local inventory management programs securing optimum stock replenishment and ensure regional best practice sharing
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement, local teams and management to drive effectiveness through the organization and utilize economy of scale
  • Sharing and deploying best practices within the region.


  • Master level education within procurement, supply chain or logistics disciplines is preferred or specific equivalent relevant experience
  • 7+ years of procurement experience, of which minimum three years leading others
  • Leadership acumen (such as creating and setting targets, delegation, decisiveness, communication, integrity)
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Experience with stakeholder management and global collaboration is a plus.
