Regional Category Manager – Aalborg or Rotterdam

Do you want to be responsible for developing a regional category strategy and analyzing and categorizing patterns of spend to understand purchasing trends at the world’s leading maritime supplier of provisions and stores?

The Regional Category Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and developing the relationship with the regional vendor community to create the best possible sourcing position for Wrist by considering total cost of ownership, price, quality, availability, and logistics. In addition to analyzing data patterns to ensure the assortments are optimal on global and regional levels within the Wrist group of companies and to manage our Global and Regional Assortments, the Regional Category Manager must be an expert in sourcing activities and have a strong understanding of category management, especially in a Matrix organization.

Physical location for the job function will either be in Nørresundby/Aalborg in Denmark or in Rotterdam in The Netherlands.

Become a part of our Regional Category Management team, with high focus on project management

With reference to the Regional Procurement Manager, Lasse Hedeman, you will become part of our strong European Category Management team. Your key responsibility will be to initiate sourcing projects and maintain and develop procurement SOPs within the respective area, while analyzing and categorizing patterns. You will focus on project management, with primary attention to strategic sourcing.

More specifically, your key responsibilities will be to

  • Define and execute the regional procurement and category strategies for assigned categories.
  • Develop the regional category strategy, including objectives and targets, and execute on global category strategies previously agreed on with global category managers based in Denmark.
  • Analyze and categorize patterns of spend to understand purchasing trends.
  • Monitor commodity costs and indices and communicate opportunities for favorable spot-buys or margin increases to internal stakeholders.
  • Use advanced and proven fact-based negotiation tools/techniques such as cost breakdowns, should cost build up, e-auctions, BATNA, Anchoring etc.
  • Run and initiate sourcing projects, incl. searching, developing, and maintaining relationships with existing vendors. Identify new sources of supply.
  • Drive saving initiatives by constantly testing the market with RFX activities and e-auctions.
  • Negotiate sustainable contracts with focus on price, quality, availability, and logistics and develop vendor relationships to maximize cooperation with strategic suppliers.
  • Communicate with the organization (sales, purchasing) to understand consumer patterns, as well as insights provided by suppliers. Translate the data into new products or/and new vendors.
  • Optimize assortments and COGS throughout the organization by leading the definition, item alignment, merge preparation, and roll out of global and regional assortment programs as part of category management.
  • Ensure best practices are shared and deployed between regional networks of offices and the global procurement team.
  • Maintain and develop procurement SOPs within the respective area.
  • Some travelling activities can be expected in connection with visiting fairs and vendors.

Qualifications & requirements
Preferably, you have an educational background within business on Bachelor level with at least 7 years of demonstrated experience within procurement and strategic sourcing. Moreover, we expect you to have the following qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge – Display competence and proficient working knowledge, skill, and ability in carrying out procurement activities, understand complex sourcing related tasks, and display proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and general utilization of enterprise purchase software modules (eRFPs and e-auctions)
