Global Category Manager for Protein Food Products

Are you a specialist in global sourcing of fresh meat products, such as Beef, Pork, and Chicken, with experience in global trading, securing food safety and full compliance in the supply chain? Wrist Ship Supply is looking for a Global Category Manager specialized in protein food products such as Beef, Pork and Chicken with both global and local product- and sourcing experience. You will have significant freedom in building and maintaining a strong supplier portfolio, initiating and closing contract negotiations, and generally keep abreast of category market movements and customer requirements.

In this role, you will work closely with the Sales Team in analyzing market data and identifying the relevant assortments matching customer needs and source according to your developed global category strategies.

With reference to our Head of Global Category Management, you will become part of a strong Global Category Management team within a growing organization. The position is preferably based in Noerresundby, Denmark, or we may consider remote work combined with minimum 2-3 days of work weekly from our HQ.

More specifically, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Total cost optimization:
  • Analyzing purchasing trends, commodity development, execute benchmarking and convert into financial improvement of the business
  • Search the market for identification of new vendors and opportunities and incorporate those in the business
  • Working Capital optimization (Payment Terms & Days of Sales Inventory)
  • Contract coverage and full product- and ESG compliance
  • Category Strategy development and execution:
    • Execute procurement strategy and translate into objectives and targets
  • Assortment development and execution:
    • Understand consumer patterns and translate the data into new products/assortments and/or new vendors
    • Optimize assortments and Landed Cost per item throughout the organization by leading the definition, item alignment and roll out of global and regional assortment programs
  • Supplier relations management to maximize cooperation
  • Deliver saving budgets and deliver on key procurement KPI´s

As a person, you are trustworthy, self-driven, resilient, open minded and possess a high level of business acumen to generate tangible value for the customers and Wrist.

Qualifications & requirements
Preferably, you have a strong sourcing and purchasing or sales background from the meat industry or within retail and distribution of Meat Products. You possess 5-10 years demonstrated experience leading the global sourcing of different Protein Food Product categories like Beef, Pork, and Chicken. It is an advantage if you also have a strong business and economical understanding either from a Master or relevant courses. We expect you to have the following qualifications:

  • Plus 5 years Procurement Category Management experience as specialist in the Protein category. Alternatively, you could have a Sales background
  • As a person, you are result oriented, analytically strong, decisive and action oriented
  • You manage your stakeholders well and can drive alignment
  • Your approach is data driven and your decisions are based on facts
  • You possess strong negotiation-, communication- and influencing skills
  • You have a longer experience with global sourcing and a strong procurement toolbox
  • You have some experience in building assortments in cooperation with sales
  • Experience being project lead of development of category strategies and sourcing strategies
  • Global experience is a significant advantage, as is high proficiency in English
