ESG Procurement Manager - Noerresundby, Denmark

Do you have extensive experience in procurement? Have you got knowledge of ESG issues and trends, and experience integrating ESG criteria into procurement practices? Then we are looking for you!


To further strengthen our work with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), we are looking for a ESG Procurement Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable and responsible procurement strategies across the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG criteria into procurement practices, engage with suppliers on sustainability issues, and drive positive impact for stakeholders. 

The position is with reference to Head of ESG and with a dotted line to our Global Procurement Officer. The position is based in Nørresundby.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with our organization's ESG principles, such as reducing product carbon emissions and addressing responsible supply chain needs .
  • Minimize operational waste in own operations e.g. reducing use of shrink wrap, pallets, plastic packaging etc..
  • Development of sustainable procurement policies and work with cross-functional teams to establish ESG criteria for supplier selection and contract negotiations, and ensure that all procurement practices are in line with our sustainability objectives.
  • Conduct sustainability assessments of our suppliers, identify areas for improvement, and work with them to set and achieve sustainability targets, including exploring potential SBTi commitments.
  • Establish a supplier ESG performance monitoring system, analyze supplier sustainability data, and report regularly to internal stakeholders on progress and opportunities for improvement, including contributing to our broader ESG communication and disclosure/reporting efforts.
  • Create and deliver training programs for procurement employees and other relevant stakeholders to ensure understanding and adherence to our ESG principles.
  • Stay up to date on ESG regulations, standards, and trends and recommend changes to our procurement practices as needed to maintain alignment with industry best practices.
  • Support the development of our Global ESG team and their efforts.

Qualifications & requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in procurement, supply chain management, sustainability, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, with a strong understanding of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of ESG issues and trends, and experience integrating ESG criteria into procurement practices.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and identify insights and opportunities.
  • Experience working in a global, multi-stakeholder environment preferred.
