Wrist Triples Capacity in Southern California

2 December 2014

Wrist moved operations to a new facility on October 13, 2014. The new building is approximately 70,000 ft² in size – which tripled its previous capacity.

Adding new freezer/cooler facilities increased cold storage capacity from 1200 ft2 to 8000 ft². Having designed the facility with HACCP and ISO standards in mind, Wrist will complete its aim to become the first HACCP ship supplier on the US West Coast.

Long Beach facilities and staff

This new site is only 5 miles from the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach, giving Wrist the advantage of both proximity and capacity. “Since 2012 we have increased revenue more than 35%. With the benefits of this new facility, we will improve our customer experience in every way while also creating a true flagship location on the US West Coast,” says Josh Roman, Long Beach General Manager.

The Continuous Evolution in Long Beach
Since opening with one truck and two people in 1996 under the former ownership, One Source, the Long Beach office has been a tremendous growth center for the region. Charlie Michelson, Senior Vice President for Wrist North America and one of the former owners of One Source, elaborates further: "This is our fifth location since the birth of operations in 1996. Each new location has been prompted by a doubling of revenues, and this is no exception. I am so proud of the team for their hard work and dedication which has made this a reality. This new building is the next foray into an exciting future.”

Jubi Hillery, CEO Wrist North America concurs: “Our North American team now has the ability to change the market with an evolutionary building in Long Beach with more freezer space than every other ship supplier joined together. We know this is our hub for the West Coast and we have invested in the future. Our team is multicultural and has the ability to communicate with every country in the world. Our leadership is the combination of youth as well as experience, setting the tone for the direction of the next 10 years . . . very proud of the entire West Coast team.”

Wrist Growing Capacity Globally
The new facility is a confirmation of Wrist’s continued success in the US markets. Last year, Wrist Ship Supply announced a significant growth in its North American-based operations, which has continued into 2014. Wrist has opened new facilities within existing markets in Singapore, Rotterdam, New Orleans and Long Beach. In December, Wrist’s new facility in Montreal will follow suit.
